This is a new section for the site that we will "try" to keep updated with what's going on with the St. Christopher.

 

bullet 12decphol2.jpg (96897 bytes)December 26, 2000 - The first recovery crew reaches the St. Christopher via the new road.  Valuable items were transported from the ship. Surveys were completed so that re-floating efforts may begin soon.
bulletDecember 2000 - Joe Hans, the owner and operator of the salvage company  that will be leading the salvage operations, cut a road from the nearest road through the woods to the beached St. Christopher.

bulletJanuary 25, 1999Coast Guard Aircraft 2136, while on patrol spotted looters aboard the St. Christopher.  Due to quick action of the aircrew, the looters were apprehended. The looters had used a cutting torch to remove port holes and had begun to remove valuable items. To take the ships screw, they cut the shaft.

bullet 12deca.jpg (51816 bytes)September 1998 - Hurricane Georges hits the Gulf Coast.  During the storm, the St Christopher broke from its moorings and was blown 4 1/2 miles away and wound up beached in a marsh.
